Griffin Reid Recovery Fund

Dears Friends and Caring Community,

Thursday, January 4th, Griffin Ried was involved in a sledding accident at Springfield College.  Unfortunately, he sustained a serious tramatic brain injury as a result of the accident. He spent several days at Bay State Hospital and was recently transferred to a rehabilitation facility in New Britain, CT.  Sadly, while in the facility it was discovered Griffin had an additional infection in his mouth, due to cuts sustained in the accident, and was rushed to Hartford Hospital, January 12th, for emergency surgery to drain the infection.

This emergency surgery is a reflection of one of the potential unknowns Julie and Griffin may still face during his recovery from this accident.  There is currently no prognosis, as is common with brain injuries such as Griffin's.  Our hope is he will recover and have 100% of his faculties restored, but we just don't know for sure. What is clear,  this will be a long recovery and Julie will need to be with Griffin as much as possible during this difficult journey.  Here's where you can help.

Julie, being employed as a per diem employee, does not get paid if she does not work.  Being a widowed mother  of three this places her and the boys in a difficult day-to- day financial position.  Although Julie is a strong and prideful women, she also recognizes she needs outside help to provide for Griffin, his twin Connor, Wyatt and of course, herself.  It is with this in mind, I respectfully ask you to consider donating any amount to support the Reid family during this very difficult time. The Reid Family and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support and prayers.

In addition, I have set up a Caringbridge site to help support Julie and the boys with meals for the next several weeks, as well as, provide updates to Griffin's loving community.  You may reach this site by going to Caringbridge and searching Griffin Reid.
