Grenier Family Finish Line Fundraiser

It took a lot to get here, but the Grenier Family have overcome immense challenges over the last few years. From being thrown out by a sexually abusive family to being unpaid and evicted by a property they were hired to perform renovation work on, to then living on State Park lands, and finally being told by an employee they could move onto a storage lot to eventually find out they weren't actually allowed to live their and needed to move out immediately. Their situation was grim, but their fate is finally changing for the better.

 

Even employed, the lesser-known increased costs of homelessness appeared to point toward a certainty that they would eventually lose their incomes and end up on the side of a road in tents. What could they do to turn their predicament around?

 

Effectively homeless at the beginning of the "Save the World Project", through perseverance, hard work, and the generosity of truly compassionate donors, the Grenier Family have accomplished the seemingly impossible. They are now on a rent-to-own property, have a new trailer, truck, and most importantly a place they can now come home to and not feel unwelcomed.

 

Remaining employed and hardworking, navigating issues with the property’s company they lived on previously, and by the generous contributions of compassionate human beings like yourselves, they now have their own property and a home to call their own. The job is not entirely done, however.

 

They have moved onto the new property, after many challenges physically, mentally, and financially. But they have not yet reached the finish line. Altogether, the "Grenier Family Rescue Project" and their incomes were able to get them out of destitution and onto a property they can call their own, with a price tag of just over $31,000! It happened in a rush and out of desperation. With them living up the side of a mountain now in the forest, a few items remain that they need assistance with, but we are so close!

 

After over $31,000 in costs, just under $6,000 in essential costs remain. The Grenier’s still lack a reliable water source to their property, a connection to the electrical grid, and a proper sewer connection. Additionally, the company that owns the storage lot they were previously housed on had Zak’s son’s car towed, leaving them with a bill in excess of $1,100 dollars, with the cost going up $48 a day. There is also the deposal of the dilapidated trailers that, due to poor condition, cannot be moved to their new property.

 

So, here we are. Months, arguably years later, tens of thousands of dollars spent right, and by comparison a small financial bump left in the road ahead to reach the finish line. As of when this GoFundMe was put together, the Greniers still faced $5,600 in costs to make them sustainable on their own. However, a few of the costs, notably Bryson’s impounded car, increase daily. As such, we have set a goal of $6,500 to make them solvent.

 

It has truly been a remarkable journey, and we cannot thank previous donors enough for making this all possible. Through your contributions, you have literally rescued a working family from continued homelessness. They now have a property (the “American Dream” right?), secure housing, the ability to store and cook their own food, and facilities to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Time is running out though, especially as winter approaches.
