Green Riders -Good Deeds on Bikes
We are the Green Riders, doing Good Deeds on Bikes across the USA summer of 2017. We are cycling 3,700 miles from New York City to Seattle, Washington leaving a path of goodness everywhere we go. We will be:
-Starting small gardens in communities, front yards, schools, church yards in every state.
-Freestyle gardening, planting food in unused places across the country
-Planting native wildflowers to help the struggling honeybee populations
-Planting fruit trees
-Volunteering at gardens, farms, and nonprofits
-Setting up compost bins and rain water harvesting units to help others
-Randomly beautifying rundown places
-And so much more!
All across the country we will be helping others to grow their own food and contributing to help communities become happier, healthier, more vibrant places. This community bike ride has spurred from Rob Greenfield and Cheryl Davies plan to simply go for a long bike ride in the service of others. So far the team has organically grown to over 40 Green Riders who will be cycling coast to coast spreading goodness. Everyone is welcome to join for the entire ride or any part they’d like. Riders will travel in a low impact style living in an environmentally friendly manner. For everyone riding the journey will be an immersive experience in sustainable living with the intention to inspire and inform others on how to be a positive impact on the world.
But we need your help to Make America Green Again (yes we are standing up against injustice to the Earth and its inhabitants by leading a positive example and spreading goodness)! We are aiming to raise $10,000 and we will use your green wisely. The funds we raise will be used to buy seeds, seedlings, fruit trees, gardening materials (soil, compost, materials to build raised beds) materials to build rainwater harvesting units and compost bins, and tools. Some funds will also be used to cover the costs of our hosts across the country. Excess money that we raise will be used to continue the Good Deeds on Bikes movement after the ride and will also be donated to groups that are starting their own gardens and sharing it with their community. If we raise substantial funds some may also go towards PR to bring more good news to the world and organization to build the movement.
All of the cyclists are on their own for personal needs so these funds are going directly to the cause.
All donations go to Happy Healthy and Free which is a 501c3 nonprofit. Your donations are tax deductible.

UPDATE:
Thank you all so much for your support of Green Riders! We have made it safely across the United States. 48 people took part in the ride and together we cycled 87,000 miles. That's 3.5 times around the world! We planted 1,000s of wildflower and vegetable seeds, planted 90 fruit trees, cleaned up over 20,000 pieces of trash, rescued 5,000 pounds of food, and volunteered in many communities across the country.
It was a huge success and we have all of you to thank so much.

After the trip we have $1,691.11 left. We had a meeting as a group and decided that all the funds we have left will turn into the Green Riders Fruit Tree Fund. The Green Riders will keep doing Good Deeds on Bikes and any that want to plant community fruit trees will have the funds to do so! It should be enough funds to plant about 50 fruit trees!
