Greenburgh Veterans Memorial Fund

Help honor the men and women who served our country in the armed forces.  We need your help in order to fund a monument dedicated to our veterans and show our support and appreciation for their sacrifices.

 
About two years ago, a member of the Greenburgh Veterans Advisory Committee recognized the need for a permanent monument to honor the sacrifices made by town veterans for our nation at De Santi Plaza in Hartsdale, NY, next to the Hartsdale Train Station. Multiple veterans groups starting with the Daughters of the American Revolution agreed with the vision and worked closely to insure that all veterans starting from the Revolutionary War to present would be recognized and honored.
 

Town officials have allocated funds to redevelop De Santi Plaza.  The improvements to the plaza will include landscaping, trees, lighting, flagpoles and new sidewalks.  The veterans memorial monument will be the center piece for the improved park.  However, the monument itself was not included in these funds and must be brought about separately.  The improvements are scheduled to be started in mid-August and will be finished in time for Veteran’s Day in November.


The monument will be made out of solid black granite. The inscription will reflect our entire armed forces contributions and the base of the monument will identify all major past wars and conflicts.  It will show our veterans how much we appreciate their sacrifices and provide a long lasting place to honor those who served in the armed forces.  A picture of what the monument will look like and a plan for the park improvements can be found in the updates.


All funds raised will be dedicated solely for constructing this monument. We need your support no matter how small of a contribution so that the creation of this very important symbol to recognize and honor our veterans can be achieved.
