Since late July 2018, wildfires have ravaged the Northwest countryside of Athens and specifically the Mati village and surrounding areas. This fire is thought to be one of the worst in eastern Europe in the last 100 years.
My name is Dean Stamatis and I grew up in the village of Thisvi, Greece. I am now a citizen of the USA but want to help all those affected by the fires and especially the children in the Lirio orphanage in Mati.
This GOFUNDME is to raise funds to help the 93 families who have lost their loved ones; To help the greater then 130 individuals who have been seriously injured; And to help the 1000's who have lost their homes and are living in tents.
All donations will be sent to the Holy Trinity Charity and Lirio orphanage in Athens, Greece. Money will be spent on emergency medical services, food and clothing for the orphanage. Campaign donations will be sent by electronic transfer directly the orphanage bank account.
