Grateful Life Emergency Shelter

Donation protected
When the weather in Huntsville, AL drops below 32 degrees for 24 hours consecutively we open the doors of Grateful Life Community Church as an emergency warming center for anyone that is living on the streets or in camps. Many of these people are unable to go to other shelters for one reason or another, be they barred, have pets they wish to bring with them, or they are turned away because they are a same sex couple. Whatever the reason, we open our doors to keep them safe. We welcome all of God's children; all races, religions, orientations, and gender identities are welcome to join us.

Aside from a warm place to sleep, and a cot to sleep on our church also provides clothes, jackets, full meals (at least 3 a day) snacks, over the ocunter medications, and bathroom items such as soap, shampoo, razors, feminine hygiene products, etc...

It is also of note that we are the only emergency shelter that allows guests to bring their pets with them.

When we open our doors, as one might expect, our utility bill increases, it also puts a strain on our church finances trying to cover costs of items that we don't get donated, but have a great need for. Every single dollar helps.

If you would like to donate goods, you can drop them off at our church 207 Oakwood Ave. Huntsville, AL 35801
