Grant Drum Line South Africa

In 2009, Grant High School founded the Grant Drum Line with the ambition to give students the opportunity to tap into their musical nature while simultaneously engaging them in extracurricular involvements. Since then, maintaining a program that can continue to provide a safe outlet and an enrichment opportunity has been top priority. As the program has grown over the years, so too has the magnitude of the exposure. Grant Drum Line has participated in multiple local and out of town events, and performed for a variety of prestigious community leaders and politicians alike. Drum Line plays annually for non-profit organizations such as Muscular Dystrophy Association, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Autistic Foundation for Children, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, just to name a few.

In 2014, Grant Drum Line was informed by the National Selection Committee that it had been invited to represent the state of California at the National Independence Day Parade in Washington D.C. That same year, the Drum Line also appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel show as a guest of ABC Good Morning America host Robin Roberts. In 2016, The Drum Line was invited to perform at the Sacramento California Matsuyama Japan sister city 35th anniversary. For both events the Drum Line had to raise over $170,000.00, and it did.

In November of 2017, the Drum Line received a dual invitation from the Mayors of Johannesburg and Cape Town South Africa to perform at the 2019 American Celebration of Music. Needless to say, this is an honor beyond measure, and it is The Drum Line’s most notable invite to date. Not only is this a remarkable opportunity, but earning this invite is also a testament to all the hard work that the drummers have done.

With each opportunity to perform comes a financial challenge. Being rooted in one of the lowest income neighborhoods in the nation, doesn’t provide it with a luxurious budget or lavish donations that other programs may receive. In order to maintain, Drum Line rely heavily on performances and donations. While the Drum Line takes pride in providing for the program, this next endeavor is far beyond its range of affordability.

With a calculated cost of $100,000 to cover the purchase of new uniforms, travel for Drummers and Chaperones by airplane and motor coach, instrument shipping, and lodging expenses, Grant Drum Line needs your help to make this dream come to fruition. Sponsorships will be greatly appreciated and will not go unrecognized.
