Gabriella Quinn's Journey

Donation protected
On January 16,2016 after a difficult pregnancy, our baby girl Gabriella Quinn was born slightly prematurely at 4lbs. Doctors very quickly realized something was very wrong. After being rushed to Boston Childrens Hospital, and a long NICU stay, she was diagnosed with biliary atresia, a rare condition where the liver has no duct system and does not let bile out, causing cirrhosis of the liver, severe jaundice, malnutrition, and a failure to thrive. There is no known cause. We are devastated. Her first surgery was in March at 8 weeks old; a Kasai procedure was performed at Boston Childrens, and unfortunately has been confirmed to have failed. Now, at 5 months old we are patients of the liver transplant clinic at Boston Childrens. Gabby is expected to have a liver transplant by the end of this summer. We are now faced with the most difficult journey we could have ever imagined. Our little girl has faced more struggle in 5 months than most do in a lifetime. Boston Children's Hospital is like our second home. Yet somehow, Gabriella wakes up everyday with a beautiful smile on her face. The outpouring of support we have gotten from our family and friends, and our wonderful doctors has been amazing. We are now facing the fact that we are going to be looking at a long hospital stay, a long journey to recovery, a lot of medical bills, and we could really use some help. We would be so appreciative of any help anyone can give our family in this time of need. Thank you all so much.
