Gogebic Range Robotics Fundraiser

Please help the Gogebic Range Robotics team raise the funds needed as they prepare for WORLD competition held in St. Louis in April 2017.

The Gogebic Range Robotics Team is made up of students from Hurley and Bessemer High Schools. The idea was to create a program that engaged young people from the region in an international robotics competition. Team members attended the First Robotics Competition kick-off event in Duluth, MN on January 7th. At this event a challenge was revealed to the team and they were given their team kit. The kit includes some of the key pieces involved in the challenge and some of the parts needed to create their robot. The teams were then given six weeks to create a bot that will accomplish at least a portion of the challenge. They were then required to pack up their creation and ship it off to the competition, which took place on March 1-4th in Duluth, MN. They were 1 of the 4 rookie teams (out of 60) to participate.  They were told not to expect to qualify as a rookie team, but after the 4 day competition, they were named regional winners!  Pretty amazing.

Being from a small area, this team relies heavily on donations.  The registration fee alone is $5,000.  Other expenses include, hotel, travel, and meals.  Our team consists of 25 students, mentors and coaches, so you could imagine that our expenses could add up quickly.  If you can help out in any way, it is appreciated.
