Hi!
We are Alden, Seneca, Hayden, Abby, Thomas, and Jaya and we just made it to the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals after placing 1st in our Regional tournament in our division and 2nd at the State competition.
Here's information on Odyssey of the Mind. And our problem, Stack Attack! .
Now we've got to:
- Improve our balsa wood tower structure to hold more weight
- Tighten up our performance, costumes and props
- Travel to Iowa
- And stay on campus at Iowa State University for the Odyssey World Finals
So, we need your help!
Its going to cost us about $650 per person (1 team member and 1 parent) to stay on campus and cover our meals. (You don't want us sleeping outside in a hammock do you)?
We are also estimating about $300 per person to travel to Iowa and back (if you can't help, some of us may need to stay in Iowa and grow corn for the rest of our lives)!
The rest of the money will be used to help buy more balsa wood, and get the materials to upgrade our costumes and props.
The world finals are from May 25th to May 28th but we need to pay for our rooms by the beginning of May.
We are so excited to be going to the World finals! Our performance is about the Ugly Duckling and how he decided to "Attack the Stack" of problems and discovered that he was a swan! Our tower (8 inches and 15 grams), is where we stacked all of his problems - all 650 LBS of them!!
We want to get it to 950 or over a 1000 lbs for the World Finals and we need your help to test structures. We also want to spruce up our costumes and update our props as we improve our script.
We would be so thankful and grateful to be able to make it to Iowa. We are trying to find other ways to raise the funds to get there but any help you can give us through our GoFundMe campaign goes straight to our team.
It's been so awesome to get all the support from you so far this year and we just a little bit more to make it all the way.
