Go for the Dominican Republic

Hello there! My name is Arian Inigo and I am raising money on behalf of the person being hosted in the TV program shown in the video, Generoso Arístides Ledesma Méndez, President of the Dominican Go Federation, which was founded in 2017 with the purpose of popularizing the game of Go in the Dominican Republic. As a fellow player of this most marvellous board game, also known as "baduk" to the Koreans and as "wei-chi" to the Chinese, I found him to be a most passionate promoter of it and this has led me to decide to help him. He has organized and held various events to promote Go in Dominican Republic, including this TV broadcast. 

Currently, in line with his organization's mission, he has a few Go-related projects planned. One of these is a Go workshop to be held in a primary school in the city of San Juan de La Maguana, located 87 miles (140 Km) west-northwest of Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic. He had already gained approval from the principal of the primary school to hold it, but is currently unable to do so due to lack of equipment. I met with Mr. Ledesma Méndez on various occasions during my last trip to Dominican Republic and we discovered that there are no sellers of Go equipment in the Dominican Republic and that there are no US-based sellers of Go equipment that currently ship to this country. As well, shipping any item to Dominican Republic from overseas tends to be prohibitively expensive due to the need to use registered mail, as this country, despite having modernized greatly over the past 20 years, is still very much a Third World country in which items in transit often never make it to their final destinations. Finally, customs duties can make some items very expensive to bring into the Dominican Republic. So we agreed that upon my return to the US I would purchase any desired Go equipment and send it to him through a logistics company. Specifically, he requested that I send him 40 sets of melamine Go stones, of which I have purchased 12 so far. With 40 sets, he will be able to hold the Go workshop and introduce the children of Dominican Republic to the wonders of this great board game.

My target is $700 and I will need this amount gathered before May 1st. I feel ashamed that Mr. Ledesma Méndez has had to delay his Go workshop at a primary school, where many children and even teachers are sure to come into contact with the fun and educational value that the game of Go offers, because he had not been able to receive the adequate equipment that I had promised him.
