My name is Kevin Smith. I have been selected to represent Victoria and Canada on the Mens Junior Team at the Upcoming FIRS World Inline Hockey Championships in Nanjing, China from August 24th – September 11, 2017. Over 5000 Athletes will be competing in various roller sports.
As one of our National Team Canada Inline Hockey Players, I will make a positive impact for us in competition and a great ambassador for Canada. For international sanctioned amateur competitions, our national players do require financial support in order to help recover many of the costs associated with this exciting opportunity to play for Team Canada.
Let me start by telling you a little bit about me. I began playing in-line hockey when I was years 6 old. I have played competitively since that time in the NARCH Regional Qualifiers and BC championships in Vancouver. I travelled to San Jose California twice, 2010, 2012 competeting in NARCH National Finals for Eagle Ridge Roller Hockey and helped bring home two bronze medals. In 2014, I competed in the BC summer games in Nanaimo. Our team finished an impressive fourth overall. In addition to in-line hockey I play competitive ice hockey during the winter, but my heart has always been in roller hockey first.
This year I am graduating from Royal Bay High School. I am thrilled to represent Victoria and Canada at the World Games. In addition to the pride I feel representing Canada, I hope to be recognized and offered a scholarship to attend a College or University while still playing the game I love. It has been a dream of mine to play on the international stage and I am hoping for your support to make that happen.
