Unveiled Unlocked 2017 will be a 5 Borough Tour in NYC
This Global Initiative, is a Movement illuminating the Hair Free Community. By showing up unapologetically with our Bare or partially Bare Heads we expose the sea of people with hair to be aware, sensitive and informed that beauty is more than skin and hair deep.
We empower those who lose their hair due to health issues like Alopecia, Lupus, Cancer etc.
I AM Aleathia Brown by trade a Career Visual Artist, Cultural Visionary and Storyteller.
I proclaim that emotional wellness is about balance, healthy living, hair freedom, being so much more than about HAIR.
As Bare Head Beauties & Bare Head Brothers
We invite all genders, generations and cultures on this day to unite, celebrate, hold conversations and acknowledge the other spectrum of beauty often underrepresented in a sea of people with hair. Bare is to Bald what Nude is to Naked-
one is inviting
the other is considered vulgar
By being Hair- Free, we do not attach ourselves to hair as our identity, beauty or value.
The hair free woman impacts her environment as well as her environment impacts her!
Whether being verbally assaulted because of having no hair, not being accepted in the work place or challenges in relationships, the price and perception of beauty is costing us all.
70% of women in committed relationships who lose their hair due to health issues lose the relationships, this affects how some women internalize and deal with health emotionally and medically.
The silence of shame can cause hair incarceration, ignoring medical issues and even financial ruin.
There are also men affected by the social norms around a male aesthetic.
Toupee' being sold to 40,000 men per month speak volumes to men with hair loss issues.
