Buzzing to Disney
The Jersey City Honey Bees is sharing wonderful news, currently we are practicing and anticipating yet another great and successful competitive year for the American Double Dutch Championship. In December 2016, we competed and won 1st Place in the 25th National Double Dutch League Holiday Classic which was held at the World Famous Apollo Theater. We earned the title National Double Dutch Champions and have been recognized for our skills and invited to compete in the prestigious US Jump Rope National Championships; which will be held in the ESPN Dome in Disney World.
We are growing in membership and volunteer numbers, strengthening our skills in and out of the rope, as we continue our mission of helping others now while empowering ourselves. We have worked within our community with services including: health and fitness events, teaching Double Dutch in schools throughout our community and various recreation centers, and also appearing at different community events. We are inspiring the community to come together through youth seminars and open forums. We have collaborated with many organizations to provide these opportunities, to pull in more of our youth and assist them in learning new skills and knowledge both in the athleticism and fitness within the world of Double Dutch and in social and emotional development.
The Jersey City Honey Bees have proven that double dutch is not just a hobby but a sport where they go into competitions and Tournaments and represent their CITY, STATE, AND ORGANIZATION , stinging every floor, court, or stage touched and leaving everything on the floor. These youths are learning how to positively socialize with other teams after the competitions are over through encouragement and inspirational. Standing on their mission firmly Helping Others Now Empowering Yourself, and providing hope for the younger generations and future double dutchers.
Within 2 years of jumping and 1 year of competing we have buzzed our way into the hearts of everyone, become an inspirational team for upcoming teams, as well taken the necessary steps to bring branch out and become innovators and create LEGACIES. We are using our mission beyond the ropes, through the schools, and in our community, to stay humble and ready for whatever positive opportunity comes our way. This is more than jumping rope at this time, it's become a Movement! We stand here as CHAMPIONS OF ALL 3 DOUBLE DUTCH LEAGUE TITLES (ADDL, CNDDL, IDDL)
Our youth are primarily low-income, from single-parent households and reside in crime-ridden neighborhoods of Jersey City, NJ. Many have never travelled outside of the immediate neighborhood. Attending trainings and preparing for tournaments gives our team members the chance to see the world beyond the Jersey City borders and network with other youth from around the world.
We have a very short time to raise the needed funds for this Championship. While we know that time is against us, we are reaching out to those we know can effectively financially support us in these endeavors. We are sure that you can help us ensure that we will be able to compete. We must raise funds to pay for transportation, uniforms (t-shirts, shorts, and socks), food and lodging, and tournament entry fees.
Your contribution will show the Honey Bees you love them, appreciate their service near and far, and support for their success and accomplishments to expose the youth to better. We know that with your support our travel team (of 25 young people), from Jersey City, NJ will know their city, state, and nation supports them completely.
