Giving with Gunnar

A little less than a year ago, our Beasley bunch faced one of our darkest hours when we almost lost our sweet baby Gunnar a few weeks after he was born. During that time, we ended up making a home at BC Children’s hospital.
It was a time in our lives that still seems surreal, a period when time didn’t seem to exist, and we lived in around -the-clock routines of vitals checks, IV checks and antibiotics. Brian and I took turns laying in a recliner holding our sweet boy for 24 hours at a time. Because he was in so much pain, the only way he was comfortable was diaper-free lying on our chest.
The quick reaction of the doctors and nurses at BC Children’s hospital saved Gunnar’s life. They continued that level of amazing care for his entire hospital stay. This year, instead of gifts, we have decided the best way to celebrate Gunnar’s first birthday is to give back to the BC children’s hospital.
We are collecting donations that will be given directly to the families and nurses on floor 7 at the Children’s hospital. All money collected will be turned into different vouchers such as Skip the Dishes, Starbucks, Parking Passes and Grocery Cards. We want to bring some sunshine to the families facing their own dark hours and to the nurses that go above and beyond for every patient.
