UPDATE :   As part of our ongoing GoFundMe campaign, we wanted to thank each and every one of you for all of your support in all ways!  Kaylee has indeed received her eSight Eyewear Glasses and they are beyond AMAZING!!  Now, part of ongoing fundraising efforts will be for the upkeep of the glasses, paying off the loan for the eSight Eyewear, and finally to help with all the extensive medical bills for her complex medical condition which finds us frequently going to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.  Every prayer, share, and dollar donated is so much appreciated more than words can express!  We love you all!

KAYLEE'S STORY:
My daughter's name is Kaylee and she is a 12 year old little girl who was recently diagnosed with Optic Nerve Atrophy.  Kaylee had all her sight until about 2 years ago when it suddenly all left!  Let me go back and tell you briefly about Kaylee.

Kaylee came into this world with a lot of trouble.  She had severe birth trauma because she was stuck and even had a broken arm.  After Kaylee was born, she was in the hospital for 3 months.  I have always said she is quite the fighter with all her medical challenges from the start and has never stopped fighting since!

Kaylee has had a long list of complex medical challenges already in life but that has never kept her down for very long.  She loves her family and animals more than anything.  I just can't imagine Kaylee never being able to see them again!  In just under the last 2 years, from Optic Nerve Atrophy, she has gone from not wearing glasses to roughly 20/2000!  As fast as her sight has gone, I just do not know when it might all be gone.  And as a Mom, that just is heartbreaking to even just think about your little one not being able to ever see again.  I have always called her my little animal whisperer.  Kaylee loves horses!!!!

Kaylee is even having a family friend teach her to ride blind.   This is Stop - a 28 year old Quarter Horse with Kaylee!  By the way, she wants you to all know she has been riding horses since she was 5 years old, but she did sneak and get on horses before that!) . Kaylee just cannot let horses out of her life, even if she is completely blind.   But with these glasses, eSight Eyewear, she will be able to continue to learn how to ride blind incase that day ever does arise, stay ON the trails, ride a bike safely, see the beautiful scenery, and still be able to see all the beautiful animals in this world.  Kaylee says "If I am lucky, I will rescue as many as I can!  (so far a Maltese, horse, and yes, a snake!)"

I just cannot believe that there is the possibility of her seeing clearly again with this new technology!  I really did not believe it myself until one day when we were up at the Mayo Clinic for additional eye testing and check-ups, Kaylee had the privilege to try on another kind person's eSight Eyewear.  It was not even her prescription lenses, but SHE COULD SEE ME!!!

As her Mommy, I will never forget this smile as long as I live!  She would be able to see us!  And this was the first time that I thought she might be able to see again with the help of technology.  She will still be able to travel and care for all her animals when she is all grown up even if she is completely blind. But, it sure would be a great little added bonus if she could see!  Our family always tries to describe the scenery around us and even outside the car window when we travel.  ("I cannot see anything out the car window...sad face!")   We, as her parents, have never allowed any of her disabilities to stop our family from trying to enjoy life!!  We love Disney, and when we went last summer, she took her white cane for the first time.

It was really hard for her to see any of the magnificent details that Disney ha s throughout all the parks, even with our current technology device which brings things closer for her to see.

My dream is to have this new eSight Eyewear, (along with extra funds to continue her extensive care for her ongoing eye care) so she can still see all the things that she has in her life yet to experience.  Kaylee says, "I feel that I have lots of things to experience yet!  I have big dreams of seeing the Ponies of Chincoteague and to meet Patch, the one-eyed race horse!  And I just want to see my family's smiles again clearly.  But I do have them engrained in my memory and now even more than ever that I am so quickly loosing  my sight.  Next year, I am going to a school that really helps  Visually Impaired students.  I can hardly wait to be able to see the school material and start learning again!  I love learning and reading!"

As her Mother, I just want her to experience things that everyone else takes for granted - to watch TV or a movie with her family and friends, to see any and all of the beauty out the car window as we travel, to see the agility course for 4-H Dogs, to ride on amazing horse trails, and to just see her own smiling face again, as well as, to see my smile when all she does is look at me.   (By-the-way, Kaylee placed 4th in the state for 4-H Dog Agility last summer while legally blind!  Proud Momma Moment!) . Kaylee loves all animals and would love to see as many
different ones as possible in her life.  Even rescue a few!

And, just in case you still can’t believe a pair of glasses could be so magical, go  to www.esighteyewear.com and check out the videos. See how they are changing the lives of so many people with low vision; that’s what we hope to achieve soon.

Thank you so much for taking your time to read about our beautiful, strong, loving life daughter!

The eSight Eyewear is from Canada and is NOT covered by any insurance in the United States.  The cost of the eSight iEyewear alone is $10,000.  This does NOT include all the updates of lenses nor all the medical appointments, testing, travel to appts, etc. that are required for Kaylee up at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN roughly 12 hours away. Ronald McDonald House is always full when we go which adds an additional travel expense.  Kaylee has a very rare condition  for her age and it is progressing very quickly which is why we were immediately referred to the best in the country.  We would greatly appreciate any donation to help us keep up with Kaylee's continuing eye care now and in the future!

(Kaylee seeing her cousin graduate from HS this summer!  Without the trial pair of eSight, this would have never been possible!  A memory that will last a lifetime!!). Blessings to each and every one of you!
