Girl Zone at Dark Mofo!
Girl Zone have been invited to perform at Dark Mofo, a winter arts festival in Hobart Tasmania, on the 21st and 22nd of June! Dark Mofo is funding flights, accommodation, transport between the hotel and performances and some food expenses for Girl Zone, their DJ and two volunteer guardians as well as payment for their 4 performances which is amazing!
We (Christobel and Sandra) are hoping to raise some money so the girls can explore Hobart and beyond while we are there. It's a great opportunity for the girls to see and learn about other parts of the country outside of Naarm/Melbourne and also do some fun activities together!
The money raised will go towards
- Flights for a volunteer guardian
- Car hire and petrol (costs are higher than normal due to Dark Mofo)
- Activity costs eg. tickets for tourist attractions
- Meals
Who is Girl Zone?
Girl Zone is a group of five girls aged 12 and 13 from Melbourne who rap and sing about their lives and future ambitions, covering everything from basketball to world domination! Best friends for as long as they can remember, Achol, Akuech, Atong, Nyawech and Zoe formed Girl Zone in 2009 when they were only 9 years old. Inspired by the likes of Rihanna, Fifth Harmony, Kehlani and Princess Nokia, Girl Zone bring something truly unique to the table! Check out their instagram @only_girlzone1.
Any extra funds raised will be re-directed to RYMS - a free music and dance program for young people aged 8-13 from the Collingwood and Fitzroy (Melbourne) Public Housing Estates delivered by the drum Youth Services.
