We are teen girls helping each other confidently recognize and handle "send nudes?" requests and other forms of sexual harassment.
A study in 2012 found that nearly 70% of high school aged girls have been asked to send nudes, with over 90% feeling at least a little bothered by the request. As teen girls experiencing high school first hand, we believe this number has only risen since. So we decided to do something about it.
We spread awareness of online sexual harassment among teens through speaking events such as SXSWEdu and A Tribe Called Brunch, our sticker campaign, social media, and teen ambassadors. We provide an (online and offline) confidence-building community for teens to share personal and receive professional advice on how to deal with online sexual harassment. And in the future, we will develop a one stop shop experience for teens to report harassment to their school counselor, because this is a systemic problem that requires a systemic solution.
We have also been featured on the Girls Empowerment Network social media.
We need help funding our sticker campaign and finding additional opportunities to help our business grow. We'd like to raise $1000 by August 1 so we can buy and distribute more stickers to raise awareness at local middle and high schools.
Shoutout to our mentors: Zach Horvath (pictured above on left), founder of Live A Great Story, Reagan Pugh (pictured above on right), founder of Assemble, and Whitney Stafford, of Kasita.
