Help Gilbert the Goat

Donation protected
Meet Gilbert the Goat aka Gilly! Pretty much everything that God calls us to do rarely makes sense however he ALWAYS knows the bigger picture. I was contacted by Molly Williams, a woman who has aided in animal rescues in the past, like Romeo the rooster. She knew of a goat that was in dire need of a home. She had been trying since spring to find him a home but no one would take him. Sounds like God had a plan in mind. The goat was born as a meat goat. As a baby he had severe frostbite and not only lost half of each ear but his hind feet. So when the owners went to take him and his brothers to slaughter they rejected the goat as you can not slaughter injured animals. The owner figured he would just bring him home and do it himself, but when he saw what a fighter he is the owner decided not to slaughter him but also did not want to keep him. When I read the first part of Molly's message I thought NO, we can not take on anymore animals financially and time wise. But then I saw the picture and video and there was an immediate without hesitation knowing, that we absolutely needed to take this goat.
He has an appointment Sept. 20th at Cornell to be evaluated and castrated. We have gotten an estimate of $550.00 for his castration and blood work. The Dr. mentioned that he may need to have x-rays of his feet and there could be more included depending on what they see after evaluating him. By the way he currently walks Raven, my daughter, and I can not tell if he is in pain or if it is how he has adapted. If you can find it in your heart to help this poor little guy any amount can help. Even $1.00 can make a difference. We set a goal of $1000.00 as we only know the min. cost. Click on updates to see a video of him trying to walk the best he can. Gilbert is only 18 months old and still has his whole life ahead of him where he can touch so many youth here at Purpose Farm. Goats can live into the high teens.
GILBERT UPDATE! Cornell took a cast of each hind leg to send to Veterinary Inclusive Prosthetics and Ortho and they will be making prosthetics for him as soon as we can raise the money. We have updated the goal to reflect the new total we need to reach in order for Gilbert to get his new legs. His new legs will cost $2700.00 and that includes Cornell fitting them for him. He really needs to get his new legs as soon as we can for him. He has a large bed sore on his chest from being down more then up. He also has sores that bleed on his front knees. He also has muscle atrophy from not being able to use his hind legs, and be in a proper posture position. His new legs will give him the opportunity to gain his muscle back and not be in chronic pain from his posture. Please consider donating to help Gilbert. Make your tax deductible donation now. Please share this and lets get Gilbert his new legs! Every dollar helps no amount is too small. Thanks
