Gilbert "Manny" Ceaser is a 24 year-old young man born and raised in New Orleans East. Gilbert is a loving, caring, and kind brother, father, and boyfriend. He is a valued employee at the Ruby Slipper and has been for over a year now. On April 22nd, on his way from work, Gilbert became the victim of a senseless shooting. Unfortunately, over a month later, Gilbert is now living through the aftermath of attempted murder.
The bullet went through his jaw and landed in his neck, leaving him with a fractured jaw, torn ligaments, and severed nerves. It also severed his carotid and vertebral arteries and damaged his C2 & C3 vertebrae (used for breathing and moving).
The doctors have declared him quadriplegic and said that he will remain dependent on a breathing ventilator. They have also stated he is a "rare" case and is lucky to be alive!
Since April 22, Manny has been in Trauma ICU and the doctors have declared that there is nothing more that they can do.
We are reaching out to you to raise money for restorative assistance, stem cell therapy, and other rehabilitation options. There is limited assistance in the state of Louisiana, which means we are looking for resources outside of the state in order to improve his quality of life.
This will be a long process for him and he has been healing beyond what we could believe, that is why we are attempting to utilize any available option! Your generosity could change the course of his recovery.
