GHS Hurricanes of Rwanda

Four years ago, I donated all of Gainesville High School's old men's soccer uniforms to the group Peace Passers, as GHS was getting new kits. Peace Passers finds 'homes' for soccer gear in good condition with deserving players around the world. We were matched up with a wonderful  man from Tennessee who does missionary work in Rwanda. He took the unis to Rwanda with him, and gave them to a group of avid soccer players, who formed a team. We were all very excited when he sent us pics of the boys in their GHS kits. Last week, out of the blue, I received an email from Jake. He still travels to Rwanda to do missionary work. He told me that the Hurricanes of Kigali, Rwanda are a team of older boys from the orphanage. They love their team colors and love being the Hurricanes! He told me that the Hurricanes have become well known to other villages and have won many championships wearing these GHS uniforms! Jake told me that he had to explain to them what a hurricane was... a powerful storm... and he told them that purple is the color of royalty. These boys are extremely proud to rep the Canes! The uniforms they are wearing are now 8 years old. My facebook post has generated quite a bit of interest among the Gainesville and GHS community. I would love to raise money to buy this boys team a new set of soccer uniforms, with the rest of the money going to Daniel's House, the orphanage in Rwanda where they live. Daniel's House currently houses 473 boys and girls ranging in age from 4-17. They are always in need of food, clothing and medicine. Please help me to help these kids! Thank you!
