Sarah's Work Injury help
This is not a story of false sympathy, It is a true and ongoing struggle that we all face when things go wrong. My name is Lance Yoshioka and this is for my girlfriend and light of my life Sarah DeValerio.
A while back in March it was a normal work day, I was making lunch and I was looking forward to finishing out the rest of the day when my phone rang. I picked it up and that terrible news came in over the line. Sarah had some kind of condition that caused her to faint and injure her head. Her supervisor had walked in and saw Sarah on the floor and only dimly responsive with blood running from a gash above her eye.
They gave me the place where she was being taken and I rushed over to the hospital where she would be transported to. I arrived before the ambulance did and as the emergency response pulled in with Sarah in the back I was very afraid her injuries were severe. Thankfully she was fully responsive, but bloodied on one side of her head.
After the Doctors let me into her room and they treated her we were in high hopes that we would not be faced with overwhelming monetary stress. Our luck was not that great as Sarah's workplace would not cover the bills with workman's compensation. We are now facing an overwhelming financial hardship as bills pour in from the medical companies seeking payment.
I wanted to start this funding for her, not because we are beggar, not because we think that society owes us, I started this because the woman I have given my heart to cannot endure this alone, and even with my support and help we would be under relentless financial assault for a long while.
I would hope that we could raise enough to just cover two of her larger bills so that she may continue on a road to financial stability. As soon as possible, if 30 days would not be asking for too much.
Sarah has had a very tough road ahead, but in the past she has encountered numerous times where others would drag her down. I would hope that maybe this one time that others would raise her up.
Sarah has often told me that she feels jaded and that she feels humanity is a mostly dead concept to modern society. I'd want to shine a ray of hope on her, and if others would help shine that light as well then my gratitude would be eternal.
I know that this is asking alot from those who I know and those I don't know. But Sarah has always given to charities when asked at the grocery store. I've never objected, because I can see that Sarah has a very kind heart, just right now in the storm of troubles she is in, she just needs a bit of kindness in return.
UPDATE WEEK 1: We have been looking into some options to help us get though this, but we still need some support. I thank everyone that has shared this and that have donated to us, it means alot to Sarah and I.
Many people are telling us to hire an attorney. Problem being is we can't afford one and we'd be worse off even if won the case, due to the threat that if it were ruled in our favor for workman's compensation that Sarah's place of employment would retaliate by terminating her.
This Go Fund Me was put together to try and avoid that situation. If Sarah loses her job we will be really down the drain (we'd have to cancel internet and phone and maybe even car insurance to afford every bill) and we want to avoid that as much as possible.
So again I encourage you to share this, or donate, or both if you feel so. Sarah's spirits have already been uplifted by the little support given to us thus far. Thank you.
