Getting Students on the Water

I am raising funds to bring kayaking to a public middle school where I currently serve as assistant principal.
Note: due to funding regulations, this will be a personal project and not a school related funding due to fundraising restrictions. However, these items will be used for the school and donated to the school.
The school is located on the Vermilion River and serves grades 6th - 8th, including the gifted and language immersion students.
Together, the students that attend the school bring many backgrounds and experiences. However, many have never experienced boating or the waterways in our parish.
By bringing kayaking to the school this will give our students a chance to experience outdoor recreation and to learn about a major resource running through our backyard.
The goal is to purchase:
Kayaks (tandem and single)
Kayak trailer able to hold a minimum of 4 kayaks
Paddles
Life Jackets
other accessories
The students will be instructed on water safety and will begin with the guidance of a local family owned outdoor sports business, Pack and Paddle. They will help us get students on the water beginning with their weekly Saturday demo days at Vermilionville.
Students will go through their Kayaking 101 course.
Once our students are instructed in water safety and basic kayak usage, we will begin trips down the Vermilion River and other local waterways.
Our science teachers will also be involved to provide instruction on the various wildlife and plants native to our area.
Funds donated will used to purchase items directly from local businesses in Acadiana.
