Getting Heather's life back
Heather lost her entire lifetime's worth of belongings when her boat Midnight Diamond sunk in the River Lea just south of Tottenham Lock on Saturday. She's grateful to have walked away in one piece, but now she's left homeless and with just the clothes on her back.
Other boaters have already been amazingly generous and have already contributed clothes, toiletries etc (boaters are the best!) Lots of other lovely people have also asked if Heather has a gofundme page so they could help get her back on her feet. She thinks that she lost belongings worth a couple of thousand so let's see if we can raise some money to go towards replacing them, as well as to help her salvage what she can, and wash/dry clean clothes and other belongings.
Heather is really grateful for how wonderful and supportive everyone has been and for everyone's help. Here's hoping she's back on the water soon :)
Minutes before the boat sank :(
(I'm Eva by the way, Heather is currently staying on my boat and any donations will go straight to her. Heather is this very minute saying 'I can't believe anybody would donate money to help me! People are so nice!)
So here we are, four days later. Lots of very kindhearted people have donated almost three times as much as the amount we originally wanted to raise to help Heather! The boat has now been refloated and Heather has been able to try to salvage a few of her belongings. She's now staying on another boat temporarily and is incredibly grateful for everyone's donations, which will help her try to put her life back together again. Thank you so much everyone, you have helped a distraught and despairing woman who felt that she had lost everything to start feel positive about the future again :)
