Get Lily to Spain

Donation protected

Lily Douglas, an 11 year old award winning dancer has had 18 months of the most grueling medical procedures.  In April of 2017, Lily was diagnosed with stage 4 Ewings Sarcoma, a particularly rare strain of bone cancer, no family history and no prior signs, Lily's life changed from that of a normal, fun-loving and dancing 9-year old to a hardened veteran of hospital visits and procedures.

To date Lily has endured 14 rounds of chemotherapy, she has had major surgery to her shoulder blade meaning she can no longer lift her  left arm much beyond her chest (remember the award winning dancing?) and lastly, this year, she went with her mum and gran to get 6 weeks of  agonising proton therapy which left her with considerable burns and scars.

Lily was given the all clear of cancer and rang the bell at both Florida and Edinburgh sick kids, the family breathed a huge sigh of relief as this cancer has an 85% recurrence rate.  A family trip to Florida was arranged, the week before they left for Orlando, they had the devastating news that only 3 short months after being given the all clear, the cancer was back, it was in both Lily's lungs and it is aggressive.  The pediatrician advised them to go on holiday and make memories, and start fairly severe chemo when they return.

Whilst in Florida, a new treatment centre  was found, one in Spain, one which is not so invasive and only takes two weeks.  Jane (Lily's mum) can hardly bear to put her child through the vile and difficult chemotherapy treatment, so many conversations had and full research done on the facility (the pioneer of this treatment won the Nobel prize for medicine this year) Spain beckons to give Lily a better chance of improving without chemo.

This is all happening at a very fast rate, because this cancer will not slow down and wait, therefore I have offered to help Jane and the family with a campaign to raise what we can.  Anything you can give will be used to give Lily this much needed treatment and potentially avoid further chemo.

Imagine the elation of being told you are cancer free following a harrowing 18 months - then imagine it being snatched away from you and your 10-year-old child a week before your holiday of a lifetime.

Please give what you can, more fundraising to follow but for now anything you can spare would be greatly appreciated by Lily and Jane.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, your donation would be greatly appreciated as would sharing this far and wide on your social network channels.
