Our wonderful friend Jess Tyler is in need of specialist emergency treatment in Mexico. She was rushed to hospital with severe internal bleeding and although initial surgeries in her current hospital have gone well, she needs to be airlifted to Mexico City for surgery to prevent any further bleeding, which can only be carried out by a specialist there.

The reason we’re having to raise money is that she has been cheated out of her insurance policy by some very misleading small print, and they are refusing to pay for any treatment. She is in far too fragile a state to return home to the UK so her only option is to receive this treatment!

We have a pot of money but are still somewhat short of the spiralling medical costs, so anything you can give would be massively appreciated!

Hi all,
Hope you’ve all had a great Christmas.
A further update for those who have been asking:
The 28th ended up being a much minor procedure after the treatment I received during the 8 day stay at the hospital pre-Christmas, and with all of that they have prevented any further internal bleeding which is great news and a huge relief for me and my family; so I'm out already and though I need to rest a lot I'm doing really well.
I’ll be looking to fly back to the UK as soon as they give me the all clear for long haul flights, so I’ll hopefully be able to see some of you in early 2019!
It’s still an ongoing issue but for now all is looking well and is treatable.
Thank you again for all of your support and well wishes, you’ll honestly never know how much it means to us all. Happy New Year everyone, loads of love xxx

Hello everyone, a quick update from me, I'm back in the hospital in Mexico City at the moment as unfortunately I've been bleeding internally again, but, I'm going to have a little op this morning to see what is what and stop the bleeding and the good news is I'll have a big op on the 28th December which should sort everything out for good (well for the foreseeable at least, my case is very rare so there'll be some longer term monitoring to be done but it won't be too life bothering).

My mum and dad came out to help me a couple of days ago and I'm in good spirits and am being very well looked after here. When I'm not in hospital I am actually living a pretty normal life and once I have this big op on the 28th and have recovered I should be pretty much good as new! A huge huge thank you to everyone once again, I'm still no closer to comprehending how wonderful and giving everyone has been, it is so so amazing and I am so very grateful, I'll never be able to express it in words. Thank you thank you thank you. Love to you all xxx Jess

Ps again I'm so sorry if I've not responded to you for a while if you've sent me a personal message, things are a bit all over the place but please know that I really appreciate it and I hope to get back to you soon x

Hello everyone. I'm a bit at a loss what to say here after everything that has happened. I just want to say thank you so much, I don't know how to say this strongly enough, I don't think there are words for it. I can't begin to comprehend or process everything that has happened this past six weeks really... but the completely overwhelming amount of love, support, generosity and kindness from everyone is just the most amazing thing I've ever known. It has made the worst and most terrifying time of our lives so much easier than it could have been. So, for every kindness, donation or message of support I just want to say a massive thank you, on behalf of me and my family, thank you.

I am doing so much better, I still need one more operation which I'll have in Mexico City soon, but I am recovering really well so I’ll be super strong for this next one. And basically I’m totally stable; I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. The photos I've posted here are from when I got the all clear on my brain, lungs and heart.

I am so, so lucky, in so many ways, but not least to know so many absolutely amazing people. From lifelong friends to friends of friends to complete strangers, I am completely overwhelmed by how incredible everyone has been. Thank you all so much... You have literally saved my life.

Love Jess xxx

ps - I am really sorry if you have messaged and I’ve not got back for a while - it’s all been a bit chaotic and overwhelming but I really appreciate everyone’s thoughts and I promise I’ll get back to you soon xxx

UPDATE 17.07.18
As a number of you have been asking, we wanted to share the great news that Jess has been discharged from hospital and is now recuperating in Oaxaca, building strength for her next (and hopefully final) operation in Mexico City.
She is now longer high risk and doctors are really pleased with the progress she’s making!
It’ll be a pretty long recovery but it's still a million miles forward from where she was two weeks ago.

Will let you know when and how the next operation goes but everything looks incredibly positive.
And again thank you, thank you, thank you for the continued support, it's just been incredible.

UPDATE FROM 07.07.18
[Apologies, I had posted the below on the 7th but as a comment, not an update, so a number of people won’t have seen it]

After probably the longest week of our lives we’re very relieved to say that specialists have finally diagnosed and treated the underlying symptoms to Jess’ life threatening condition (a very rare genetic vascular abnormality that had caused severe internal haemorrhaging).

She still has one more major surgery to have to prevent anything similar happening again, but at the moment she is fully stable and all internal bleeding has been averted and have had confirmed that brain, lungs and heart are clear. There’s still a bit of a way to go, but to be somewhat crass she’s basically not going to die which considering how things were looking a few days ago is just staggering.
She’s the toughest person I know.

We’re still completely overwhelmed by the sheer generosity and love that has been shown this past few days. I honestly don’t think we’ll ever get over it.

For every person who sent her a message of strength, for everyone who donated a pound of their own money and to anyone who called or came to visit her, thankyou isn’t really enough but I’m so tired and just lost for words.
Thankyou, thankyou, at risk of sounding melodramatic you really all have helped save her life. Thankyou.
