Hello everyone!
My name is Brittany and I am here with my little brother to raise money for our Dad, Norvin.
My Dad’s passion for music runs deep - since he was a kid, he’s dreamt of running his own studio.
He is 52 years old now and we are going to get him to his dream.
For the past decade, however, he’s been unable to do what he loves. He’s struggled with an ongoing and rare neurological/autoimmune disorder that has been debilitating for much of these last ten years. It has taken away from his life, time with his family and the ability to do much at all. For a time, we all had to grapple with the fact that he may never get his life back. It’s been heartbreaking for all of us to watch him like this, unable to function with normalcy, while trying to figure out some way to do something when the truth was, he couldn’t do much of anything.
Thankfully, he has finally been able to get medical help needed for his specific condition and start his journey to being healthier. During this past year especially, his health has been improving, he’s regained more of a normal lifestyle and feels like he can actually do this - and we do too.
While working on recovery, he also found a great spot in Multnomah Village for a studio, where he and a small team of friends have been tirelessly building/remodeling with limited resources, funds and labor support. Although it has taken much longer than anticipated, the studio IS near completion - he is SO close! He just needs a little more help getting there.
We are hoping to raise $10,000 so he can be up and running early 2017. These funds will go toward supplies, materials and labor. He is so excited to get going so he can work with local artists and become a new, supportive part of the community.
We can’t tell you how much your support means to us and our father. To see him now be so close to doing what he dreams, to see him happy in his life, it’s a true gift. The thought that this could happen for him is amazing. Any amount helps. We thank you all SO MUCH!
