Gerard Batten's legal action against NEC

My name is Alan Craig and I have been a member of UKIP for five years. I am secretary of Havering branch and have been Familly and Children Spokesman for over a year. I am also a House of Lords Pass Holder for Lord Pearson of Rannoch. I have known Gerard for many years and am sadened, as are many members, at the NEC for blocking Gerard from standing. I personally went to meet with a Solicitor last week and agreed for a letter to go to the NEC in my name asking for the decision to block Gerard to be overturned. I did this after hearing that Head Office have been overwhelmed with letters and phone calls demanding that Gerard stand.
UKIP members are furious at the way the NEC have blocked the former leader, Gerard Batten, from standing in the upcoming leadership election. A Solicitor has already been instructed to write to the NEC. This crowdfunding page is to raise money for this legal action to overturn the NEC's decision to ban Gerard from standing. We intended to raise £2500 for initial legal work to cover a solicitors letter. This has now been done. If the NEC refuse to allow Gerard to be on the ballot paper then we will issue a court injunction. We will need to raise much more money for that but have received lots of offers . Thank you for your generosity in helping us fight this unjust NEC decision. These emails will include what money has been spent and on what. So far a letter has been sent from the solicitors to each NEC member.
The next step will be to prepare for and request a High Court injunction. You will receive information on this including the cost of each process. The money will be withdrawn by me (as I am the client with the solicitors) as I am paying the solicitors directly. Gerard himself will not be withdrawing the money as this has been set up to pay the legal costs to have him on the ballot paper. As I, Alan Craig, am the person bringing this legal action, I am the one withdrawing this money and paying the legal costs.
