Help Georgia's Ballet West Journey

Donation protected
Hi my name is Georgia Ward and I am 18 years old. Since I was four years old in my first ever ballet class, I aspired to be a ballerina... Now this dream has developed and I hope to someday tour the world in a world-renowned ballet company. After fourteen years of commitment and dedication to attending weekly dance classes at The Pat Yarborough Theatre Dance School, this dream is only a step away. To achieve my ultimate dream, this year I have been auditioning around the country to attend a vocational ballet school in September for full-time training. I had unbelievable success from all of these auditions! After much deliberation I decided to secure my place at the prestigious Ballet West! In order for me to be successful in the world of ballet it is crucial I attend a vocational ballet school to gain the best training in  the UK. However, accepting this place has been incredibly difficult due to the financial strains this will put on my family. Even though I have accepted my place at Ballet West, it is extremely financially straining on my family. Therefore, my family is now under huge pressures to find money to help support my dream. I have set up this GoFundMe page to raise enough funds to help me fund my future! The performing arts has very little financial support; making it difficult for me to attend one of these prestigious schools I have worked so hard to attend. Although Ballet West does offer student finance, as it is a private establishment it only offers £6000 of the loan towards the £10,000 of tuition fees. That's £12,000 my parents have to find for my next three years of tuition! Not forgetting the shortfall from the maintenance loan for living expenses, the costs for the uniform and many pointe shoes I'll get through, and food!

My family and I are doing all we can to try and raise these funds through fundraising and work. Not only do I have a job that I will be working tirelessly at all through the summer as much as I can, I am also selling previous costumes I have owned for dance competitions, selling things at car boot sales, and writing to numerous local companies to ask for their support.

About Me:

I am currently at a Sixth Form College studying Health and Social Care (Double Award) and A Level Dance and hope to achieve straight As by the end of this academic year! My next step is to undertake an undergraduate degree in Classical Ballet and it is my dream to become part of a world-renowned ballet company.

At 13 years old I started to become extremely serious about ballet and and so auditioned for the Yorkshire Ballet Scholarship Centre Associate Course based in York. I was successful and was offered a place on this course to attend weekly Saturday classes that were of a very high standard. Each year I was reassessed and remained a part of this scholarship programme for 4 consecutive years until I auditioned for Ballet Theatre UK associates in 2017. In great shock I received not only acceptance onto their associate course, but instead they were offering me a place on their full-time vocational three year course with a 25% scholarship as they believed I was 'more than ready'. Unfortunately, with me being half-way through my A Levels and realising even with a 25% scholarship, accepting this offer still wasn't financially viable for my family, I declined this offer and accepted my place on their associate course. I am currently still a part of this associate course, and will be performing within Ballet Theatre UK's 10 year anniversary Gala in June!

Alongside this success I also received a nomination from my Intermediate Ballet exam by the examiner in 2015, to attend the Manchester IDTA awards which was a fantastic opportunity. Throughout the years I have taken part in local pantomimes each Christmas and Dance Festivals at half terms. This Easter was my last ever Dance Festival after 14 years of competing, and I won the 16-18 years Open Ballet Section which was a dream come true. I committed myself and worked tirelessly for fourteen years to receive these amazing opportunities!

The opportunity to go to a prestigious ballet school is all I have wanted and worked for my entire life. To have been offered a place at Ballet West, is THE ultimate dream come true.

I would be extremely grateful for any financial support at all, and I will keep you all updated with my time at Ballet West! I am so close to achieving my dream, and it would mean the world if you could support my journey!

Thank you for taking the time to read this! Your help would be greatly appreciated!
