George is home! (with heart worms)

Donation protected
In October of 2015 my boyfriend Matt and I headed to the Atlanta Humane Society in hopes to find the perfect dog for us, and we did!  We adopted George right there on the spot and became a family of three.  Two months later when Matt and I headed home to New York for the holidays, George slipped the leash while out on a walk with his dogsitter.  We got the dreaded call at 3 AM on Christmas morning that our dog was missing.  We were devestated and flew back to Atlanta  as soon as we could and began our search.

So many amazing friends and neighbors helped us in our search for George.  Whether it was hanging flyers, setting traps, checking the shelters, walking the streets, or just making sure Matt and I were doing "okay", we are so eternally grateful for you and your help.  The kindness and grace our neighbors extended to us was so overwhelming.  We are incredibly lucky to have so many people who were truly invested in George's story and ultimately, his return.

Fast forward to 5/10/17, one and a half years later...we get a call from the microchip company telling us that George was just scanned in at Fulton County Animal Services.  Needless to say, we were in complete and utter shock.  We raced to the shelter getting there just before it closed and burst into tears as soon as they showed us his picture.  Minutes later our family of three was reunited!  If only dogs could talk!  He has become a local celebrity.  Chances are when we meet a new neighbor, they have already heard a piece of his journey.

We have no idea where George was or if anyone was taking care of him.  All we really know is that he is now heart worm positive.  Just days before we received this call, we donated the last of George's things to a local shelter, leaving us incredibly unprepared for his return.

It is our hope that we can raise enough money to cover his heart worm treatment (which will cost up to $2,000) and to replace all the items of his that we have either donated or shared over the last one and a half years.

We know the people in our community have already gone above and beyond for all three of us, but we are hoping for just a little more support to help George get back on his feet.

(Once we pay for George's treatments, all of the left over funds from this campaign will be donated to Fulton County Animal Services in his name!)
