Gemmell Family Fundraiser

$495,758 of $481k goal

Raised by 10,488 people in 21 months
Jenifer Miller  GAITHERSBURG, MD
At approximatey 10:45 am on December 8, 2014, a small jet crashed into a home on Drop Forge Lane in Gaithersburg, Maryland killing the three passengers and three members of the Gemmell Family who were inside of the home.
Marie Gemmell, her son Cole, and infant son, Devin, were in the home and sadly lost their lives during this horrific accident. They are survived by Ken Gemmell and their oldest child, Arabelle.

Please help raise money for the two remaining members of this family who have lost most of their family, their home, and life as they once knew. 100% of the funds raised (less the fees GoFundMe charges)  will be donated to the Gemmell family for funeral expenses and any and all additional expenses they will incur during this time of tragedy.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Gemmell Family.

Rest Peacefully Marie, Cole, and Devin.

*Disclaimer*

Unfortunately I need to do this since there are so many skeptics in the world. I am just a mother of five children of my own who has known Ken, Marie, and their children, through serving them as guests at Dogfish Head Alehouse where I am employed. I have made Ken aware of this page and he has all of my contact information as well. 100% of these funds will be going to Ken and his daughter for anything they may need during this horrific time. This is not about me, it is about helping people who are in need because I would want someone to do the same for me whether they knew me directly or not.

Update 8

Just an update to everyone who comes across this page... if you feel compelled for ANY reason to post anything NEGATIVE on this fundraising page, please think again. Your comments will be DELETED and you will be blocked. I am appalled that I even need to post something like this but here it is.
If you feel that funds should go anywhere else, by all means...DONATE to that cause, start your own GoFundMe page for that cause, or do whatever you feel is right to raise awareness/funds for your cause but DO NOT come on the page I have created for these people who have lost EVERYTHING and post negativity or doubt.
Thank you to the beautiful people who have rallied behind this page and shown support through a donation, a kind word, or just sharing that this page exists :)

Update 7

Just to be clear, the fees that are taken are from GoFundMe and WePay, NOT from me. I set up this site to help Ken and Arabelle and I do not see a cent and would never dream if taking a percentage or fee from anything raised.
Thank you all who continue to donate and who have donated :-)

I haven't posted until now, I've made several donations when I've been able to, I just wanted to do my little part for the Mr and his daughter. I don't know how they will ever recover from this, money might make it a little easier in rebuilding the material things but the memories of the personal stuff is gone. So sad. I hope family and friends are able to piece together some pictures and video. The mama and little boys looked so sweet together. I've asked my family and friends to please not buy me anything for the holidays because I don't need anything and would like anything put towards the family. I know Christmas is going to be an extremely difficult time for them and if anyone knows please confirm they are work family this holiday. It world be nice if we could get an update from a family member? Thanks for listening. Mr. Gemmell and Arabelle, I hope you know you have an extended family now and lots of love. Please keep your spirits up for Arabelle and you, hoping you guys are getting some counseling and support. JENNIFER! I don't know you, but thanks, you're an Angel and can tell you truly formed a bond with the family. Everyone say a little prayer in Church over the next couple days, it will go far. Love, Ted and Olivia Rosner

Seeing the outpouring of love for this family during this tragic chapter in their lives, is heartwarming. In this age of skepticism it proves to me that love is not dead. As the family nears the one year mark of this horrific event, I hope that everyone who can will reach into their pocket and give a few dollars to help with their ongoing needs. Healing from grief of this magnitude is going to take them the rest of their life. May God enfold them in his everlasting arms of love.

So sad to hear your loss... It really hurts me to hear that someone lost their mother and partner.... I’m new at this gofundme and I’m not really sure how this works but I see everyone posting on other accounts about their own account. I’m going to try it out and see the outcome... I am the wife of Richard Lopez and I am raising money for him to graduate from school with his Bachelor’s degree. He has been struggling with money since he first started school but then got some loans. He has been getting straight A’s, is the President of the Program, got a scholarship to become an MD. BUT the school won’t give him anymore loans and needs to pay his clinical, which are $6,000 in order for him to obtain his diploma. I’m helping my husband raise this money since we are in need of it for many different causes. ALL of your generosity will be so much appreciated, thank you!

Brian Mosch...I would advise you to do your own reading before posting ignorant comments. Jennifer Miller did a generous, unselfish & heartfelt act by setting up this fund. For a grieving family, who lost everything they had & knew as 'home'. If you actually READ the terms of the fund, you'd be educated on the fact that she does not take fees. And if you were really concerned and involved, you would also know that our community has already petitioned GoFundMe to reduce or forego their fees. And...if you did a little more reading...you'd be aware that this accident has unofficially been ruled as pilot error. The pilot crashed another plane a few years ago...and it's been determined & released to the public, that he chose to fly too low while waiting to land. An experienced & RESPONSIBLE pilot would know how to wait in the air. But, as stated in the last paragraph of the following, that might have hurt his ego too much. http://www.wjla.com/articles/2014/12/ntsb-plane-slowed-stalled-before-gaithersburg-crash-that-killed-6-109670.html If you don't want to support this family, get off of this site and leave them alone.

Let's shoot for $500,000. It's only money. It will never be enough to compensate Mr. Gemmell for his loss, but it has a nice ring to it and we're almost there. Hope all who brought good thoughts here had a very happy holiday season and hoping 2015 brings good health, good friends, and love

My heart is breaking for the daughter and husband. I know that no amount of money can bring them back, but with every dollar donated it's like a hug showing this father and daughter that people are here for them. What a tragedy. My prayers continue daily. Thank you Jennifer for doing this for them.

My heart still breaks everyday for this beautiful family. While we attempt to give Ken and Arabella material comforts it's tough to wrap your arms around the holiday season. I pray more folks take a step forward like Jenifer. Let's take Jenifer's lead and continue to carry this torch forward for years to come as each holiday season will be challenging for them . Jenifer you're truly a blessing to us all. We cannot change someone's mind about us but continue doing good deeds it will change their hearts. To the Gemmell's and the extended family you will continue being in my prayers. God bless

It is a shame that you have to post the comments you did because of all the negative people out there! You did this out of the loving, kindness of your heart for the Father and Daughter. We should all be so lucky to have a friend like you. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and may God bless you for organizing this and for your wonderful heart! The positives of this site definitely outweigh the negatives.
