GDVFD- Fire Truck Fund
Donation protected
At 4:01am on September 10th, 2017 a dreaded page went out to the Gore District Volunteer Fire Department. Each page received is faced with a fear of the unknown and time is of the essence. One of our loyal members jumped into action as he awoke from the comfort and safety of his warm bed to answer that call. The night was foggy, and the road unexpectedly disappeared as he crashed into the wooded ditch. Traumatic as it was, we were so glad that he was able to walk away. We can't replace him.
It was a good truck that did its job to keep the driver safe. But sadly, the truck itself was not so lucky. Because of the extensive damage to the pumper tanker, it needs to be replaced. Being a small, valuable fire department, our fire trucks are an essential resource to our own community and the surrounding neighbourhoods. Because we are a small department, our funds are low. Our insurance won't provide enough to buy a replacement for the 1991 Freightliner pumper tanker. To buy a used vehicle with similar assets as the old truck, we are faced with a minimum cost of $100,000. Insurance won't cover half of this amount. We are looking to replace the truck as soon as possible with your help.
Our community needs your help to replace the truck and bring back its sense of security.
We appreciate any financial support.
