NJ All-Girls Chess Camp 2015
$1,200 of $1,500 goal
One phenomenon I have observed in the past years is that there are very few girls in chess tournaments. Sadly, it's the reality. Girls are not encouraged to play chess, though they are performing as well as boys in other areas that require intelligence . They are deprived of one of the privileges that should be offered to everyone, this then gave me the idea of helping promote chess among girls in order to change this reality.
I am currently organizing an all-girls chess camp in NJ in November 2015 to introduce girls to enjoy chess. Our message is:
Chess is fun and cool!
It will be free for all participants, and I'd like to have each participant a chess set to take home, so that they can continue playing and further their interest. I will personally sponsor at least 20 girls, but I need financial support to cover more girls and other costs. That's where I need your help. Any donation will be appreciated. With $10, $20, you could change a girl's life, just as my life was changed 8 years ago, when a passionate volunteer parent handed me a leaflet for after-school chess club.

Thank you all for your generous donations and support. A special thanks to the WeChat group "Chess Daddy and Chess Mommy" for their quick response when I voiced my worry for next year's funding. Now we will have enough funding for 2016 and 2017!
We had a successful camp on Jan 3. Please check out some photos at:
I'm excited to say that within one week of opening sign-ups on November 15th (I know I'm a bit late on this post), all 50 slots for my camp were filled and even today, the waiting list continues to grow. Per today's count, we only have $214 donation, plus $500 from NJSCF to cover sets. Like last year, I will donate $300 to cover the remaining cost, but I am really beginning to worry about next year. My dream is to be able to get the camp to continue and become an established event in NJ for the upcoming years, but as it is free to participants, a shortage in funding could keep hundreds of girls from discovering the wonders of chess, as in just 2 years, we will have touched and influenced around 100 young girls with chess.
It would be amazing if any of you out there reading this would be willing to support this camp and help more girls learn chess. Even a $5 donation would help a ton. If I go to school with you, or if I see you on a pretty regular basis, feel free to just hand me cash and I will post your name as a supporter on my GoFundMe page. If not, you can always donate to the link below:
