As many of you may know, Luis has always been a healthy person. Always involved in sports (especially basketball). He has never once had a reason to think his health was of any concern. However, with in the past few months we have noticed a significant amount of weight loss and we have brought it to his attention but that is where that stood, since he thought maybe the reason of it was due to him stopping the consumption of soda. Just around the holidays Luis has shown us that he has had these big lumps on his lower back and the back of his neck. He went and got checked out and the doctors sent him home advising him that it was nothing to worry about. Fast forward 2 or 3 weeks later he had noticed yet another huge lump on the side of his neck along his jawline which was really noticeable in size and seemed as an abscess or infection of some sort. This past Friday January 25th 2019 he decided to go to the ER to get that particular lump checked out since it was also causing him pain and discomfort. This led to some blood work. During this visit the doctor has found that Luis's white blood cell count should be at a 10 and has found it to be at a 300 which is indeed a type of blood cancer. The cancer is called Leukemia, as hard as this has been these last few days receiving this news we have come to make sense of it all, no wonder he has lost weight, no wonder he has these huge lumps. He is so strong nonetheless. The news has affected him but overall he is the strongest soldier in the field. During this time we have created this page to help with some expenses while he is hospitalized as we don't know how long he will be there for undergoing some treatments and tests. His fiance is the only one who will be working to take care of their four kids and a home. The expenses will help with anything they may need for the hospital stay and medications once the doctors find a stable medication. Also hospital bills since he will indeed have a huge deductible and copay's with his private insurance. Lastly this will help towards rent, bills and anything that the kids may need. We want to thank everyone ahead of time for the support and we ask everyone to please keep him and his family in his prayers as this is still hard to believe. We can all use the prayers and support during this hard time.
