This is our beautiful best friend,  Gayane. On October 3rd, she and her friend, Nada, were studying in her friend's apartment. They are both in their 5th semester of medical school at MUA St. Kits/ Nevis.  They had their placement exams coming up in December. We are still trying to piece together the tragic and horrific event that occurred in those moments, but what we can gather is that there was a gas-line explosion while both of them were inside the apartment. Other students pulled them out and drove them to the nearest hospital on the island. Nada was air-lifted to a hospital in the states shortly there after, however, Gayane remained on the island while her family was searching for a hospital that would accept and treat her.... because she does not have medical insurance in the U.S.  Finally, almost 24 hours later, they found a hospital willing to take her and she was air-ambulanced there. Mid-flight, the pilot had to make an emergency landing to a different hospital, because she needed to seek treatment immediately. She is now in the ICU with 90% 2nd degree burns. Her family and closest friends are all by her side praying for her recovery.

As our mighty solider continues to fight for her life, we need to strengthen her will with our well wishes and prayers.  Her beautiful spirit deserves all of our praise and celebration.

To those that know her: Please post words of encouragement, share stories, share pictures, share good memories. We will be reading them to her. We need to remind her of all the badassery that she is. She needs to hear the impact she has made in each and every one of your lives.

If you don't know her, here are the highlights: She is a fighter. She is a lover. She is the first friend to show up in time of need and the last one to leave. She is the most grateful and wonderful daughter. She is the most loving and caring big sister. She has a diamond heart, one that still shines during the darkest of times. Her laugh is absolutely contagious. Oh and be careful not to get on her bad side, she might be short...but she is mighty.

Friends, due to the astronomical medical bills that are about to start piling up, we ask that you please donate anything you can. Every single $1 counts, do it anonymously, it does not matter.  On behalf of the Balasanyan family, we appreciate any and all donations, they will be going straight to Marina (Gayane's mom).

Please share this page with your friends, family, coworkers, anyone and everyone that you know.  Keep praying and God will take care of the rest.

Dear Friends,

Thank you so much for all your generosity and kind words. Thank you for praying with us and having unwaivered faith that Gayane will come out of this victorious. We are so happy to report to you that Gayane is staying strong! There have been many ups and downs throughout this past month, so many moments of uncertainty and truth. Through it all, we have remained optimistic and kept the positive energy rolling high. We’ve been praying non stop, singing songs of praise and delivering all our gratitude to God for the miracle He is showing us. Though she is just at the beginning of the long road to recovery ahead, she has already accomplished so much! We ask that you continue to pray for her healing and share her story. One day, hopefully soon, she’ll be able to thank you, in her own words, for the tremendous support and love you have shown her. Thank you and God bless!

Today, we are 16 days out from the horrific events of that night. Gayane continues to amaze all of us and the medical team with her tenacious will to live and fight! Though she is still in a medical coma and in critical condition, each passing day is a blessing and a step closer to her ultimate recovery. So far, she has come out of 2 surgeries like a champ and we anxiously look forward to seeing her absorb more healing and strength as she continuous down this path. As amazed as we are by Gayane, we are just as deeply touched by the out-pour of love from people near and far, from close friends and family to complete strangers. You are helping this family during the most difficult time of their lives and words cannot express their gratitude. Thank you for everything you continue to do. Please continue to share her story and continue to pray for her expedited recovery. We can't wait for the day that Gayane will be able to thank all of you in her own words!

Thank you everyone for your continuous support! As you may know, Gayane’s story has been aired on several local news agencies in San Francisco, CA and there has been a tremendous outpour of love and support from friends, family and even people she’s never met before! We are doing all of this because Gayane would have done the same for us. She deserves all the support and love she is receiving and we can’t wait to tell her all about it. This is the most difficult time a family can experience, but the Balasanyans are staying strong and are SO grateful. Please understand that their strength is fueled by each and every one of you, you are all a part of this fight. Gayane is still going strong, God is working a miracle in this place and we are looking forward to the moment she wakes up and sees our smiles of joy. Please continue to share her story with as many people as you can, until she is well enough to tell it herself. God bless you all

We are so thankful and grateful for all your kind words, wishes and prayers. Today is a good day! Gayane had a successful surgery yesterday, and we are taking today on with good spirits, positive energy and STRENGTH! She continues to amaze us and everyone around with her will to get through this. There is so much to face ahead, but the one thing we are immensely grateful for is that Gayane is here with us and she hears us and she continues to put up the good fight. Keep praying and sharing. One day, Gayane and Nada will tell their own story. But for now, it is up to us to let the world know their story. God bless each and every one of you!
