The Garcia Family Emergency Fund

On Saturday night, the students of Aspen Santa Fe Ballet’s Folklórico program performed at The Temporary at Willits. The lively evening of dance and music delighted a sold-out audience and once again our Folklórico students shone with pride, talent, and dedication.

Tragically, as our longtime students, siblings Ximena and Joel Garcia performed, their home burned to the ground. Their family lost everything in the fire, which was caused by a furnace malfunction. The Basalt mobile home that they owned was destroyed, along with the family’s beloved pets:  their Chihuahua, Cosita, and their African Parrot, Joy. You can imagine the devastation and sorrow the family is experiencing.

Ximena, age 15, has been an exemplary student in Aspen Santa Fe Ballet’s Folklórico program and ballet school since the age of 3. She also participated in The Buddy Program. Ximena is now a sophomore at Basalt High School. Her younger brother, Joel, is 11 and attends Basalt Middle School. He has been a student of ASFB Folklórico  since pre-school and participates at Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard Club. Their parents, Estela and Martin, have been active members of our community for the past 13 years. They are always the first to volunteer when others need help. Estela is one of our most active volunteers at Aspen Santa Fe Ballet. Estela is one of their true stories of success at English in Action. Originally an English in Action student, she has now volunteered there for many years.

Aspen Santa Fe Ballet is committed to helping the Garcia family get back on their feet after this devastating incident. They are a big part of the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet and Roaring Fork Valley communities. We have set up this GoFundMe account on their behalf, with the hope that you will help them in any way you can.

For those wishing to donate household items or clothing, please bring the items to the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet offices in the Aspen Business Center. Our offices are directly across the parking lot from Alpine Bank. The Garcias have been stopping in daily for updates, so this will be the easiest way to make sure they receive everything.

El pasado sábado en la noche, los estudiantes del programa Folklórico del Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, se presentaron en The Temporary en Willits.  El dinámico evento de baile y música deleito a una audiencia que lleno el teatro y una vez más, nuestros estudiantes de Folklórico sobresalieron con orgullo, talento y dedicación.

Trágicamente, como nuestros estudiantes de mucho tiempo, los hermanos Ximena y Joel García actuaron, su casa se quemó en el suelo.  Su familia perdió todo en el incendio, el cual fue causado por una falla del sistema de calefacción.  La traila que poseían fue destruida junto con sus amadas mascotas: Cosita, una Chihuahua y Joy, un Loro africano.  Ustedes pueden imaginarse la devastación y la tristeza que la familia está experimentando.

Ximena, de 15 años de edad ha sido una estudiante ejemplar en el programa Folklórico y en la escuela de ballet del Aspen Santa Fe Ballet desde la edad de 3 años.  También participo en el Buddy Program.  Ximena es Sophomore en Basalt High School.  Su hermano menor, Joel, tiene 11 años de edad y asiste a Basalt Middle School.  Él ha sido estudiante de Folklórico desde prescolar y participa en Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard Club.  Sus padres, Estela y Martin, has sido miembros activos de nuestra comunidad desde hace 13 años.  Ellos siempre son los primeros en ofrecer su ayuda cuando otros la necesitan.  Estela es una de las voluntarias más activas en Aspen Santa Fe Ballet.  Estela es una de las verdaderas historias exitosas en English in Action.  Originalmente una estudiante de English in Action que ahora ella es voluntaria del programa dese hace varios años.

En Aspen Santa Fe Ballet estamos comprometidos en ayudar a la familia García a que se recuperen de este incidente devastador.  Ellos son una parte importante de las comunidades del Aspen Santa Fe Ballet y del valle del Roaring Fork.  Hemos creado una cuenta en GoFundMe a su nombre, con la esperanza de que Usted los pueda ayudar en la forma que tenga a su alcance.
