Ga-ga Club's Portable Pit
Donation protected
Our newly founded Ga-ga Club of West Chester University is in full bloom and ready to play ga-ga with our students. Because we're a new and unique organization, the college requires us to play one full year without requesting any funding from the school to build our own pit for games.
Started in Spring 2014, the purpose of this organization is to provide a healthy, stress-free environment for all WCU students to play games and unwind; creating an atmosphere where students can participate, exercise and embrace the game of Ga-ga on both competitive and non-competitive levels.
As simple as it may seem, we just don't have the means to pay out of pocket to build our own portable pit for indoor/outdoor games on campus. 40 members deep, and just 1 game in, we've seen enough people care to help this come to life.
If you'd check out our WCU Ga-ga promo video on this page, you'll see we teamed up a few months back with a local business and played on their block to make this awesome video!
Bascially, the purpose of this fundraiser is to wisely spend all donations received on building one portable pit locally (not to mention, we're one of the first colleges to embrace the sport!).
We're putting our students on the map, and we want everyone, regardless of athletic ability, to experience how fun playing ga-ga really is! If you've ever played at camp as a kid, you might know the sport as Israeli dodgeball. The game involves striking the ga-ga ball within a waist-high, octagonal pit. Every man for themselves!
To give back, we're planning a great collaborative event in the quad area of the campus this spring semester. Purple and Gold Club, Hillel, and other unique sports clubs will be among some of the organiations involved. Our wonderful WCUR station and WCU Weekly will obviously host the event, and ... GET READY ... we'll be bringing out the ga-ga pit for an amazing OPENING DAY of outdoor games for all students to enjoy!
As for pickup games, we're hoping to have bi-weekly games, so you can play all the time!
Mitch graduates this May 2015, so if we can help bring this to life in the next couple months, students' dreams will be made. And we'll have successfully become one of first, if not the first, colleges in the state to start our own team and possess our own pit for playing games. The pit is to be shared among unique clubs, respectively. We're in this together.
