Sara, the young woman I spent the majority of my life growing up with, my sister, my parents daughter, my best friend, is battling to stay by our side. At the age of 35 she has been diagnosed with a rare type of pancreatic cancer. For the lucky ones who know Sara, she’s an outgoing, beaming, sunny personality, who is always ready to help, she goes out of her way to make others smile, she’s a tutor, a mentor, a model, professor. She needs our help to survive.
We can change the outcome for her- there is a procedure called HIPEC that will save her
We can save her life.
We need your help to get her the medical care she needs.
The cancer was discovered when she was hoping to start a new chapter in her life. This changed the course of her life, and ours drastically. As of now we only know that the only treatment available is to remove the ovaries, appendix, colon and other organs in the stomach cavity to address the cancer that has already spread. But we CAN cure her and give her a fighting chance to live her life.
Unfortunately, the Canadian medical system is unable to do the procedure that she desperately requires as soon as possible. Due to her medical condition – which progresses rapidly and extreme wait times in Canada she is unable to get the (HIPEC) Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy in Ovarian Cancer
Her only chance to stay alive is to get this treatment in the US. and with all her medical expenses (hospitalization, surgery, chemotherapy etc.) financially we cant afford it alone. We are asking from the bottom of our hearts for your support to give Sara a chance to stay alive.
As a university professor, and a YOUNG FEMALE mathematician at such a youthful age, our Sara is an innovator – she is an enabler; a professor who deeply cares about her students and takes the time to light their path to a better future. As one of the highest rated Professors in Graduate level Mathematics, this one of a kind PhD teaches, does research and is involved in scientific innovations at 3 schools. Sara has spent her entire young career helping students reach their highest potential and give back to society with her research in the biomed sector.
