Hello, My name is Amy Baker. At 3:00 A.M. on February 13 ,2016, I received a phone call from my mother, with news of a tragedy in the family. A fire had broken out at my Aunt and Uncles. In which, sadly, my Aunt, Christine Goodson, and a dear friend of the family, Reed Austin, had died.
The fire started in the basement where the wood/coal stove was. They had 2 tons of coal and firewood stored for winter use. They called in fire departments and medics from 5 different counties to combat the blaze. They tried everything to retreive those caught inside, but, sadly, by the time they could get through, it was already too late. The entire house was destroyed.
My Uncle, Herbert Goodson, along with my two cousins, Mark and Roy Goodson, survived. However, the fire took everything.
The family has gotten together to provide food, clothing and shelter. And we are working on arrangements.
We are country folk living in Southern West Virginia. We don't have a lot, but we are always ready to help each other out.. They were good people. Aunt Christine was a sweet spirit, soft spoken ,and always accepting. Always ready to help out with what ever she could. I grew up with her as a steady presence in my life, someone I could go running to.. She was a loving Mother and a wonderful Aunt.
I am asking for donations to help offset the burden and lighten the load they are dealing with. The money will go to their oldest daughter, and will be used for needed medications, clothing, shelter, food and funeral costs. Every penny will go towards helping them recover their lives.
Nothing can replace the loved ones lost nor a lifetime of memories, but some comfort can be had in the generosity of others at these times. Please, help us put their life back together. As a family, we are more than appreciative and thankful for any and all help that comes our way. They have enough to worry about at this moment in their lives. We want to try to lessen this burden as much as we can, as quickly as we can. Thank you to all.. Blessings..
