Before sunrise early morning,  Wednesday June 27, 2018.. our Rapid Response Hotline went on full alert! Receiving hundreds of calls from Franklin county residents reporting that (I.C.E.) Immigration Custom and Enforcement.

The tiny community of Basin City, WA had been raided by I.C.E

Family members desperately reported loved ones “missing” and asking for help finding them. The families called every county jail asking for information about their loved ones.. with no luck.

The streets of Basin City were empty.. on a self imposed lock down.  Abandoned cars remained empty on the side of the road for days.  Fear and uncertainty lingered in the air. This tiny rural community was paralyzed.

Over five hours passed before any news.. When they finally appeared on the Yakima and Spokane County Jail rosters.  Families agonized waiting for information of their loved ones..

As they connected with the WA Immigration Solidarity Network, they were oriented on their rights & connected with legal resources.

Once they got word on their families.. the scramble for bail money was on. The priority was to help them get out of custody before it was too late. The clocks were ticking.

Antonio, Adrian, Gregorio, Leo, and Mirna.. the #BasinCityStrong all decided to share their story with you because they are in desperate need of your help.

Their future is uncertain as they are all in immigration proceedings fighting to keep their families together.

The purpose of the #BasinCityStrong GoFundMe Campaign is to ask for your help. Help these families impacted by the Basin City Raids get the opportunity for legal counsel..

The difference between having an attorney helping you fight through the tangled immigration system and doing it alone is startling..

Out of the 9 people picked up in the raid that day, only 1 person was deported. The rest were released on bond. They now face an uphill legal battle. They are seeking an opportunity to have their cases heard in a fair trial, with legal council.

Now.. the #BasinCityStrong GoFundMe Campaign Needs your help and your support.. 100% of the funds raised will go towards helping these families impacted by the Basin City Raid to fight their legal battles and fight for their right to keep their families together.

Please help us.. Keep Families Together..

Thank You for your Support..

"In Reviewing over 1.2 million deportation cases decided across the

United States over a six-year period.. according to the study issued by

the American Immigration Council." -AIC Report

“In it, we reveal that 63 percent of all immigrants went to court without

an attorney. Detained immigrants were even less likely to obtain

counsel — 86 percent attended their court hearings without an

attorney." -AIC Report

“Mexican immigrants had the highest detention rate (78 percent) and

the lowest representation rate (21 percent) of nationalities examined,” -AIC Report

“The ability to find an attorney could also be influenced by the

strength of the social networks that different immigrant groups have to

assist them in finding counsel.” -AIC Report

** "Another key finding in the report is that immigrant detainees facing deportation who have an attorney are more likely to avoid expulsion than those facing proceedings on their own." -AIC Report **
