Pup's Surgery & Vet Costs

On 10/23/2015, at 8:05 AM, he ran past my grandfather in law's feet, out of my front door, and into the yard in order to greet me as I was arriving home from school. He ran into the road, chasing my car, and at the same time a dump truck was flying past- 55mph in a 35mph zone- on a residential road. The truck almost hit my mother and I in our car, and ran over Pup's back legs and pelvis. I watched the whole thing happen- 7lbs of flesh versus 3 tons of steel, and he survived. The truck did not slow down, and it did not stop afterwards.

Those trucks speed on our residential road every day. They have ran my car off the road twice, killed four of my grandad's dogs, and will eventually hit the little girl who walks her dog down the road every morning. We finally got the county to install speed limit signs but they are not enforced. We are now going to petition to have speed bumps installed.

I immediately rushed Pup to an emergency vet, where they conducted x-rays and told me that his femur was broken into a sharp point, high up on the bone near the joint. It was pulled from his pelvis, and the ball that connects to his hip socket was snapped off and shattered. One of his testicles was crushed, and he has significant bruising on his abdomen. They gave him a shot of meloxicam and sent us home with a referral to an orthopedic surgeon.

I took him to the surgeon's that night, and a day later he had four pins and a steel plate holding his femur together. The initial x-rays didn't show it, but the neck to the other branch of his femur was broken as well.  Luckily he had no internal injuries, (other than his testicle), just some bruising.

In order to pay for the surgery I applied for a Care Credit card, and had my God-father cosign. I am a freelance artist and student, and make very little money. Under $7k a year. My God-father only just fixed his own credit, and makes roughly $1,400 a month. 

So I made this account in order to pay back the $2,800 as soon as possible. I also would like to cover his initial vet bill and his checkups if possible.

He made it through his surgery and his healing ahead of schedule! They even neutered him, (er, well, they finished the job the truck started, haha.) His final checkup is in a couple of weeks, where they will do one last x-ray and then begin rehabilitation!
