MY AUTO IMMUNE DISEASE " BEHCETS"
Donation protected
I have Behcets Disease. Behcets is an auto-immune disease that confuses white blood cells into attacking healthy organs thinking they are unhealthy. There isn't a cure for it. It has attacked my retinas leaving me legally blind. As the skin is the largest organ in the body, it attacks there most often. My body breaks out in baseball-size ulcerations. I spend a lot of time in the Hospital as this disease is very painful. Imagine having 1/3 of your skin graphed from your legs or arms or face. Regularly. Sometimes I can't go outside or even walk. Behcets also creates massive inflammation to many organs including the eyes like in my case. I have lost most of my vision in one eye and am nearly blind in the other. For this reason, I have to make routine visits to my eye doctor to receive steroid shots directly into my eyes in order to retain what little vision I am clinging to. Many of the medicines including these shots are not covered by insurance. I can't work, nor can I drive. I'm sure you can imagine how difficult it would be to make ends meet this way even if I were not required to see these specialists. Adding these extensive medical costs, the weight of just surviving is crushing. I hoping someday they find a cure for this rare disease. For now, I am just hoping for any quality of life to enjoy. I want to thank in advance anyone who decides to help fund me. And I am grateful to be blessed by you all. Thank you so very much for hearing my story and offering your good wishes. - Tiffanie
