For those who don't know Matt Smith was my step father, but also the local farmer that took kids on steer cart rides. Recently he was at Cossit Library, in north granby, teaching youngsters about agriculture. He was a well known man that traveled far and wide through New England with his animals . Unfortunately, Tuesday evening as he was working our steer, Jake, for the upcoming steer and oxen pull in North Haverhill, New Hampshire he was struck by a car and died. What he meant to my mother can't be put into words, but they were best friends to the end; no one could come between them. Now more than ever my mother and I and the whole family need help to orchestrate the whole thing.
