Felicia's "Save My Mortgage" Fund

Greetings Village!!

My name is Felicia. You may recognize me from the West Broadway Farmer's market, or perhaps you've seen me and my kiddos working in our home garden. You may have even met me through your own children by way of my mentoring and and my involvment in the education community of Minneapolis.

It's been almost 6 years in this house and my two children and I have invested a lot of love and energy into making this our home. We love the house as well as the community that we live in.

The purpose of this fund is to help provide a more stable foundation for my children and I to build in the community. For much of 2014/2015 I struggled keeping up with the mortgage as I worked to raise my family and support us with my creative work.

I've been committed to supporting people and organizations in the community whenever I could. But I realized that in order for me to help take care of my community, I need to take care of home. Early 2015 my house was in active forclosure, but with the entirety of my savings and the help of a couple of friends I was able to come up with over $12K to save my house. Unfortunately by draining my savings to save the house, I put my family at a disadvantage for the rest of a tough financial year .

Now, I am humbly asking for your help, Village.

The $5,000 amount of this fund will cover the costs of the past due mortgage payments and fees associated with the delinquency.  Catching up on my mortgage would lift a heavy cloud that's been over me the last two years.  And easing this burden will allow me to more thoughtfully invest into repairing my home, and putting focus and funds into building my fashion design business to the point where it can fully sustain my children and I. I hope to reach my goal by the end of my bEARTHday month of January. Time is of the essense to avoid an active forclosure with additonal fees.
