Updated 4/16:

First and foremost, the Broncos’ volunteer board of directors would like to express their tremendous love and sincere gratitude to everyone who has generously donated time and money to support our organization and its families, as we navigate through this dark and heart-wrenching time.

I would like to provide you with an update on how the Broncos’ organization plans to manage and disperse the financial support we have received.

Donations are no longer being accepted on this GoFundMe as of Wednesday, April 18th at 11:59PM MST, but the GoFundMe will remain live so we can continue to update everyone on our progress in allocating funds.

The funds donated through the GoFundMe campaign will be transferred to a newly created non-profit corporation known as "Humboldt Broncos Memorial Fund Inc." to be allocated for their intended purpose, only to the 29 families of those who were injured or who lost their lives.

An advisory committee is being established to make a recommendation for the allocation of these funds, which will be held in trust until that allocation occurs. Once we have formalized the composition of this committee, we will provide you with an update.

Once donations to the GoFundMe are off, people who still want to help can contact the Broncos here: https://humboldtstrong.info/contact/

My name is Sylvie Kellington, and I am a resident of Humboldt, Saskatchewan  and have a son that played for the Broncos Bantam A team just this past season. As you know the Humboldt Broncos Junior A team was involved in a serious bus accident where there were 16 fatalities confirmed out of the 29
passengers.

Please help us raise money for the players and families affected. Money will go directly to families to help with any expenses incurred.

Myself and the staff of GoFundMe is now in direct contact with the vice president of the Humboldt Broncos, and plans are underway to move money raised. I'll continue to update you all here as this progresses.

Additionally, WestJet is offering help to Broncos hockey family members who need assistance getting to Saskatoon by plane:  https://bit.ly/2H2oDJT

Thank you so much to everyone for your generosity and words of love and support.

To our donors,

We'd like to take this opportunity to clarify how the Humboldt Broncos Memorial Fund Inc. (HBMFI) and the HumboldtStrong Community Foundation operate as two separate entities.

HBMFI:

The money donated to this GoFundMe page will be distributed by the HBMFI only to the 29 families of those who were injured or who lost their lives.

In 2015, the Government of Saskatchewan enacted law regarding crowdfunding donations known as The Informal Public Appeals Act. The HBMFI was created solely to oversee the fair allocation of the GoFundMe funds for their intended purpose, according to the process dictated by Saskatchewan law. While the HBMFI will work as quickly as possible, this legal process merits careful attention and should not be rushed.

The GoFundMe raised a total of $15,174,900. After the deduction of fees necessary to cover the cost of third-party card processors, and the safe and secure transfer of funds (2.9% plus 30 cents per donation), the net amount which HBMFI anticipates receiving is $14,676,373,94. 100% of this amount will go to those who were injured, and to the families of those who lost their lives. All of the caring officers, directors, legal counsel and advisory committee members will serve the HBMFI without compensation, and all additional services necessary for the operation of the HBMFI will be contributed free of charge.

The HBMFI have ensured the families are aware of this process and its ongoing commitment to ensuring their financial needs are served, whether that’s through the continued facilitation of insurance payments, or your donated funds.

HumboldtStrong Community Foundation:

In the wake of this tragedy, the Humboldt Broncos have also received generous donations through other outlets outside of this GoFundMe. These funds will be managed by a separate non-profit organization called the HumboldtStrong Community Foundation. The funds within this Foundation are not connected to the GoFundMe in any way. Instead, they will support a broader range of individuals and organizations affected by the crash of the Humboldt Broncos team bus on April 6, 2018, and the aftermath thereof, including but not limited to: Humboldt Broncos’ players, employees, families, and volunteers; first responders and emergency services personnel and other teams, athletes, related organizations and communities.

The Humboldt Broncos’ family is #HumboldtStrong and united and will remain so as we move forward together in support of those affected by April 6.

Update from Humboldt Broncos’ President Kevin Garinger:

First and foremost, the Broncos’ volunteer board of directors would like to express their tremendous love and sincere gratitude to everyone who has generously donated time and money to support our organization and its families, as we navigate through this dark and heart-wrenching time.

Today, I would like to provide you with an update on how the Broncos’ organization plans to manage and disperse the financial support we have received.

We’ll accept donations through this GoFundMe until Wednesday, April 18th at 11:59PM MST. While no online donations will be accepted after that, the GoFundMe will remain live so we can continue to update everyone on our progress in allocating funds.

The funds donated through the GoFundMe campaign will be transferred to a newly created non-profit corporation known as "Humboldt Broncos Memorial Fund Inc." to be allocated for their intended purpose.

An advisory committee is being established to make a recommendation for the allocation of these funds, which will be held in trust until that allocation occurs. Once we have formalized the composition of this committee, we will provide you with an update.
______________

Separately, the Broncos have been humbled, and our spirits buoyed, by the staggering number of individuals and groups wanting to make donations or holding fundraisers to support our organization outside of our GoFundMe, as we deal with this unprecedented crisis.

In order to accommodate these incoming funds, the Humboldt Broncos, together with legal counsel Robertson Stromberg, have launched a non-profit called the HumboldtStrong Community Foundation.

The mission of the HumboldtStrong Community Foundation will be to support Humboldt Broncos’ players, employees, families, and volunteers, as well as first responders and emergency services personnel, teams, athletes, related organizations and communities affected by the crash of the Humboldt Broncos team bus on April 6, 2018, and the aftermath thereof.

Please note that only fundraisers, benefits or initiatives directing proceeds to the HumboldtStrong Community Foundation will be considered as endorsed, sanctioned by or held in conjunction with the Humboldt Broncos organization. The Broncos cannot, and will not, be able to verify the legitimacy of any other event or the disbursal of funds raised by other such events.

Once donations to the GoFundMe are off, people who still want to help can contact the Broncos here: https://humboldtstrong.info/contact/

An update from the Humboldt Broncos:

"As we try to come to grips with our incredible loss, we have been overwhelmed by the donations we have received across Saskatchewan, Canada and from people around the world through GoFundMe - the support and solidarity has truly been awe-inspiring.

We would like to recognize and thank Sylvie for her thoughtfulness and kindness in setting up this GoFundMe on behalf of the Humboldt Broncos.

In the coming weeks, we will make an announcement about the process to distribute the funds - know that we are working around the clock with our advisors to get the funds to our families as quickly as possible. MLT Aikins LLP law firm has graciously agreed to support us pro bono as we bring together the right teams of professionals to help us work through the steps of distributing these funds. We appreciate your patience as this process takes time and thoughtful consideration.

Please continue to check this campaign for information and updates.

Thank you for your generosity and support. #HumboldtStrong"
