One of my dearest friends, Scott Baldassaro, passed away this morning after years of dealing with a debilitating disease. I ask for your assistance to help get the family through some tough challenges that lie ahead.
For those of you who don't know Scott, he and I met in 2005 when we both started coaching our oldest boys playing Little League. We coached together for six years spanning multiple teams, multiple kids, playing multiple sports in multiple states, until a rare health condition sidelined him in 2010, and he has gotten progressively worse ever since.
Scott and Cheryl have three kids. Connor is one of our son Colby's closest friends as well as former high school teammate and co-captain of the football team with Colby. Evan is a year younger than our son Justin, and is a college freshman at SNHU; and Olivia is a high school junior with Courtney.
When Scott became unable to work it immediately placed a financial burden on the family, and Cheryl has been working very hard to keep things afloat for the last eight years.
The immediate need is for the expected funeral expenses, but with two kids in college and one in high school they will undoubtedly need assistance getting through the holidays and beyond as they face an uncertain future.
There will likely be lingering medical bills, and Scott's disability insurance has decreased recently as his oldest two have become 18, which affects their living expenses. It's not yet clear if it will cease altogether now that he has passed, so they will almost certainly need some additional help starting the next stage of their lives.
