Hello!
My name is DeeDee Russell, I am 21 years old, and I am an elite Australian women's amateur golfer. It is my intention to pursue a
professional golf career within the next 18 months.
In order to pursue my goal, one of the stepping stones is to be able to travel and play internationally as an elite amateur golfer. Not only will this open the door to competing against a larger pool of competition but it will be a huge chunk of experience to put in my 'experience bank' as I grow and develop my golf career.
I am excited to announce that I am launching a new campaign to support what will be my second international trip to the US and Canada to compete in 5 of their major amateur tournaments in their summer season.
I have chosen the events listed below to positively impact my world ranking over the next few months. Many of the world's
top amateur women players will be also playing in these events - this will provide the opportunity to place myself among a world class field.
2018 Schedule:
Women's Porter Cup; 13-15th June 2018; The Niagara Falls Country Club, Lewiston, NY.
Women's Western Golf Association (WWGA) National Championships; 25th-30th June 2018; Mistwood Golf Club , Romeoville, IL.
US Amateur Qualifying; 6th July 2018; Monroe Country Club, Monroe, NC.
North & South Women's Amateur Championships; 9th-13th July 2018; Pinehurst, Pinehurst, NC.
Canadian Amateur Championships; 24th-27th July 2018; Marine Drive Golf Club, Vancouver, BC.
US Amateur Championships; 6th-12th August 2018; Golf Club of Tennessee, Kingston Springs, TN.
It has been a year since I began my funding campaign for last years international trip to the UK, the USA and Canada. I would like to thank again everyone who contributed last year, it was a great success. Last year's trip was an incredible experience, competing at the birth place of golf, St. Andrews Links, having some great tournament results, traveling to many new places, and having the opportunity to meet and spend time with new people. It is an experience I am very grateful for and one that has equipped me with more skill and understanding of the game of golf and what I can continue to do better to improve my game.
Since then I have been competing in the Australian Amateur season. 2017-2018. Early in the season I made the decision to make some swing changes to enable a higher level of consistency in my ball striking. Early in the season I was able to produce some great results finishing 3rd at the Queensland Amateur Championships in August 2017 and then winning the Dunes Medal in November 2017. So far for 2018 I have continued to work on my game and seen some great isolated results within each event.
So, I am kindly asking for your support in helping me make this trip a reality! These funds would help me pay for flights, entry fees into tournaments, accommodation in certain places and
much more! I would like to personally thank everyone in advance for your support no matter how small or big. This will be my second international trip as an Australian amateur golfer and I am very excited to have the opportunity to do it again this year. I will do my best to make all of you proud.
