Fund GW SASA
After an amazing year of education and advocacy at The George Washington University, GW Students Against Sexual Assault needs your help raising funds to continue the work we do into the 2015-2016 school year!
This year, we worked to hold a University official accountable for his victim-blaming comments on national radio, with a petition of nearly 1,000 signatures. We ran our annual statistic campaign to raise awareness and debunk misconceptions around relationship violence. We helped launch the nationwide It's On Us campaign to help start a conversation on campus. We met with countless student leaders, organizations, and communities holding workshops to provide peer education around sexual violence prevention. We held our annual First Responder Training , and had over 100 students and faculty attend. Just this semester, we put on our annual Take Back The Night programming -- including the Clothesline Project, Walk A Mile In Their Shoes, and a resource fair -- lead a march on administration's Rice Hall, and lobbied for the Teach Safe Relationships Act on Capitol Hill. We advocated for the referendum to increase sexual violence prevention and education, and after a long campaign administrators at GW agreed to implement mandatory, in-person, sexual violence prevention and education training for all incoming students during the first week of school.
The work we do takes time, it takes effort, it takes love, and, yes, it also takes money. This last year, we were able to make our programming happen on a budget of $390 for the year, but as we expand our reach, and take on new responsibilities, we'll need to raise more funds. Unfortunately, just recently we found out that for the second straight year, our budget has been cut. We're now working with $360, despite requesting nearly $1500. That's where you can help! Please take a moment if you can to donate anything you're willing to our effort so we can continue to work towards ending rape culture and promoting a safer GW!
