Build Fossil Museum in Madagascar

Tax deductible
We are raising funds to develop a paleontology museum attached to the newly built Visitor’s Center at Tsimanampesotse National Park (TNP) in south west Madagascar. In partnership with Madagascar National Parks and the University of Antananarivo, our team has discovered one of Madagascar's largest troves of subfossil lemurs and other extinct megafauna in the freshwater submerged caves of Vintany, Mitoho, and Malaza Manga. The funds will be used to augment the existing infrastructure of the TNP Visitor's Center by adding an exhibition space where these discoveries will be featured in an interactive multilingual telling of Madagascar's prehistoric past, its present, and its ecological future.  In addition to exhibiting fossils and stalagmites from the underwater caves, we will display 3D maps of the flooded caves and fossil deposits, as well as underwater videos created by our divers. The displays will highlight how past extinctions can inform future conservation efforts. Local children and other visitors will learn about endemic fauna and the importance of habitat preservation. You can help us reach our goal by donating here, or (preferably) by donating directly to Lemur Love.
