Fund for Jack Haringa

Dear friends of Jack,

Though he would never ask for our help, Jack has faced some serious medical issues recently, and due to the f’ed up realities of drug patents, U.S. government bureaucracies, and insurance company calculations, Jack’s family will have to pay out-of-pocket for medications and services that amount to a five figure sum per year.  Let’s help make it easier for Jack to choose the treatments that will help him most, rather than allowing the insurance companies to gamble with his health by forcing him to wait until the patent has expired on important medications. It is not clear what other expenses the family might accrue due to these health events or whether the meds will eventually be covered. What is clear is that they could use the help of his far-ranging army of friends (calling all miscreants, artists, nemeses,  educators, n’er do wells, etc.) at this time.

Note for concerned employees of WA: This is not a problem specific to WA insurance. These are among the commonly denied meds that are still under patent and that people need to take long term. It’s a newsworthy problem that has received much coverage.
